The Choreography of Cutting

Now – July 17 | Tonyraka Art Gallery

Honold Fine Art (HFA) presents an exhibition by Australian artist, Sally Smart, themed “The Choreography of Cutting”. Taking place at Tonyraka Art Gallery, the exhibition consists of a large collage curtain work and a group of over 30 suspended puppets. Previously displayed in Yogyakarta, this exhibition continues as a serial exploration which begun in 2015, with the artist acknowledging an alternative history to the Western perspective by positioning early 20th Century avant-garde choreography, costume and theatre design alongside traditional Indonesian shadow puppet performance.
