Friday Q&A with a Bali resident, B455

This week with … B455 (BASS) or Nyoman Bhaskara Yuda

The basics.

Where are you from?

Asli Bali. I’m originally from Bali.

How old are you and how long you been in Bali?

I’m 26. I was born here.

Single or hooked up?

I’m in a relationship!

How did you first get into electronic music? Like, was there a certain moment it all made sense?

I’ve loved music from a young age. There was no defining moment, music has always been my career.

What do you think makes electronic music so good?

I love electronic music because it has many different types of sounds and sub genres.

Do you produce music?

I don’t produce but I do edits for my live sets.

How long have you been a DJ, and what’s your inspirations?

I’ve been DJing for 10 years now and I’m always inspired by big, global DJs & also lately other talented DJs that I connect with from around the world.

I suppose it’s easy to do that here in Bali. How would you describe your music you play?

I play a bit of everything to be honest. My music library is huge. But I mainly play hip hop and drum and bass at my resident dj gigs. Those are my two favourite genres.

What’s your favourite area in Bali to hang out (day-time)?

I would have to say Stuja!

What’s your favourite place in Bali at night (where you don’t work)?

Yuki for sure. Yuki is a Japanese restaurant (in Canggu and Uluwatu). I love the vibes and food there.

What do you do in your spare time? Any other interests?

Playing games for sure! On my play station, computer or even phone.

Where can we find you? Where are you a resident, or regular DJ?

I’m a resident at Hatch, Vault  & Oldmans.
