There is so much hip hop and afro music going on nowadays around Bali. Have you noticed? Just about every club has an urban, hip hop or afro night and many new clubs opening only feature this style of music. It would appear the younger generation are the ones pushing this drive to the urban, but while I’m not a great fan, kind of indifferent to it in many ways, I think it is time to check it out and next week we will be finding out more and presenting it on these pages. But meanwhile, this week we are featuring one of the biggest Hip Hop DJs in town, B455 in our regular Friday Q&A with a Resident Interview. Check that out below.

We have a contest going on right now for tickets to a special show this weekend. The Rainbow Disco Club festival kicks off at Potato Head Beach Club this Friday and you and a friend can get along, courtesy of The Beat and Desa Potato Head. All you have to do is get onto Instagram and like The Beat page and tag a friend you want to go with in the comments of this post. Click Here. Also, there might be a few GL left for La Brisa’s No Request show this Saturday night. If not, we have 20% discount for all tickets. Click here for that show

I had the chance to check the new cabaret show at Iron Fairies last week. Pictured here. An excellent and super professional show put on by La Joia Cabaret by RêvARTe. It comes well recommended and I believe it’s on every second Thursday night, but check here again to find out soon.  Having a visiting friend in town we were all over the place on the weekend. The first time I was at Klymax at Potato Head, which seems to be a classy joint with a mixed young frat style and older clubbing crowd. Later we were over at Red Ruby that as usual was pretty loose, and good times all around with Drunken Kong on the decks and I guess we were the drunken kongs out the front.

If anyone is interested in being kept up-to-date with what is going on around Bali, we send out The Beat Update email every week. If you would like to receive all the events info for the next week and other stories, straight to your mailbox please sign up here.

Highlights this week?  There are always plenty of parties and shows on around the traps…. Bali never ceases to amaze!  Check out all the events, both main and regular, on thebeatbali.com/bali-events. Happy week to you all.
