Date for 2: La Favela tantalises in more ways than one

La Favela is commonly known as the party-hub of the Seminyak area, pumping hundreds of people through their doors every night of the week in the heart of Oberoi! If you didn’t know, before the festivities begin, their restaurant offers a delicious fusion of international favourites with a Spanish twist, recently revamped and constructed by Head Chef Abril. The interior design at La Favela is out of this world, inspired by the jungles of Bali and Indonesia, the favelas of Rio to the underground bars and clubs of London and New York through the early 90’s, La Favela truly captures you in its grasp and makes for a memorable dinner, not to mention an epic after-dinner party location.

The dinner experience at La Favela can go a number of ways. Either enjoy the late-night comfort food that they offer from 11pm till closing which features delicious tacos, the famously cheesy poutine and other wild creations or sit down anywhere from 5pm to 11pm for a romantic meal with some incredibly well executed, proper dishes. The menu consists of a range of cuisines with each dish holding a personalized adaptation unique to La Favela, inspired by the flavours of Mexico and Spain creating tapas, starters and main courses that both blow your mind visually and conceptually.

We started our culinary journey with some banging Negroni’s, vegetarian friendly starters and a Queso Fundido (140k) that was to die for. The starters included the Tomato Salad (110k) which had a variety of home-grown tomatoes from their farm in Bedugul and the Hummus Plate (90k) that fused pumpkin into the mix. My date and I devoured these dishes within moments, excited for what was to come!

Before the mains, the head mixologist came to the table and offered us some of his signature cocktails, all of which include a fruity element. The BKK-DPS, Popcorn and La Cosa Nostra were all on point and went down so easy. Don’t miss out on these as they only serve them at dinner time!

Things got really interesting when the mains arrived, featuring three dishes that covered the ingenuity behind the entire menu. We feasted on the Corn Risotto (145k), Grilled Salmon Fillet (210k) with BBQ Jerk and the Chipotle Braised Short Rib (315k). These dishes were rich in flavour, expertly put together and didn’t disappoint in the slightest. Not to mention the desserts that came after!

To end this amazing date for two we topped it off with a Cream Brulee (65k), Strawberries and Cream (60k) and one of the tastiest Chocolate Mouse (60k) we’ve tried so far!

La Favela comes highly reccomended for a romantic dinner for two.
