Ketemu Project Space, in a collaboration with Sudakara Art Space, currently presents “Celebrating Murni”, a year-long project that gathers artists and writers to celebrate the legacy of the late Balinese artist I GAK Murniasih. The late artist was known for her paintings of nude and sexual body parts, and her critiques were laden with disapproving synonyms of taboo and dirty. By bringing her works to the fore ten years after her death, this exhibition aims to contextualize the forgotten artist in the present, allowing for new debates and dialogues to arise. The project has also invited 15 other artists from Bali and various other countries to be in a conversation with Murni’s life and her works.
