Anonymous Ancestors

Now- November 25th | Casa Luna Ubud

In Anonymous Ancestors, a contemporary Balinese Artist, Budi Agung Kuswara, incorporates photos taken in Bali from 1925 until 1930 into beautiful artworks as an attempt to explore our collective memory of the island and as appreciation for the nameless faces. Budi Agung Kuswara or known as Kabul was born in Bali in 1982 and had graduated as a Bachelor of Fine Art from Indonesian Art Institute in Yogyakarta. Upon showcasing his first solo exhibition “i.self” at Komaneka Fine Art Gallery in 2009, Kabul was headhunted by a South East Asian gallerist, Valentine Willie whom presented him in the “3 Young Contemporaries” program as one of the most cutting edge young contemporary artist in Southeast Asia. He was also invited to participate in the Artist in Residency Program at the Fukuoka Asian Art Musem and produced work based on his Balinese traditions.
