I was down the beach Sunday afternoon last week and walked from Alila to W Bali on the new footpath at the top of the beach, and must say, it was pretty good. There were people everywhere and such a great atmosphere, almost like a Sunday afternoon festival on the beach. It appears that the footpath has opened new possibilities down there with well-dressed folk being able to walk from one venue to the next, without much hassle, or sand in their toes, while the rest of the beach crowd can continue doing what they love to do – frollicking on the beach. Not sure how well the entire project is going to fare next time there is a large, wet season storm lashing the coast, but for now, it’s all smiles and Sunday promenades for all.
I’m told the pathway is going all the way from Batubelig to Double Six Beach. I was down there again today and, as you can see from the pics above, the amount of work going on down there is really quite phenomenal.
Last Saturday was another wild one, and funnily enough, after last week’s editorial, we made it to the luxury of a sofa at the home of house and techno, Red Ruby. That was courtesy of our good friend Raj Gee, who fortunately can handle just about any financial issue we come across, and loves a big night out! Ideal. We were also at the Gates of Bali at Sardine before then, which is always a stylish affair, and after a quick side trip down Dhyana Pura, we were ready for the night. The night before, we stopped by a media event at Boho Lounge in Batu Bolong to experience their finer points, including some delicious cocktails and snacks. Boho has a speakeasy, lounge bar feel and the owners being importers of fine Bohemian glass, Czechian-made artisan shisha pipes, it is the right place to have the finest shisha in town. Give it a try.
