Scott Pullen releases new track on Cafe De Anatolia

Scott Pullen has been a resident of Bali for many years and during Covid found a new voice in music production. Instantaneously, he found success with his first track called, Mombasa, which has been ‘licensed to a ton of Afro House compilation albums’. Since then, he has built quite an arsenal of weapons, 12 tracks in total varying in styles and influences, and each one being more lauded over the last. His tracks have been in the Top 20 Dance Charts in South Africa, Colombia, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Germany, Australia and Spain. To say Pullen is on a roll is an understatement.

His new track, ‘Mystic Bedouin’ will be released on the prestigious label, Cafe De Anatolia on the 8th of November. The track appears to be moving away from his early afro house roots, but remains in the ethno-house music zone.

So, first off the rank, we had to ask Scott, what’s the story (or inspiration) behind this new track.

I’ve always looked at other cultures for inspiration in my music. There’s so much beauty in these different cultures that we may not know too much about. I was watching a news story about Yemen and they showed all the devastation of cities completely obliterated. I asked myself, ‘what do I know about Yemen’? Well, I know where it is and most people would know that’s where the Houthi rebels are based.  Now, regardless of any political or religious situation in any country, you can always find amazing culture, food, people and music.

How about the vocal, what’s the story behind that?

I decided to make a track using only Yemeni vocals, so all of the lead vocal and backing vocals are from Yemen. I found this amazing voice of a Bedouin, it’s simply beautiful, almost prayer-like. I built the whole track around the main vocal in the break down.

And what effect do you think this vocal and track will have on your listeners?

I want people to see that we have more in common than what separates us. I think ‘Mystic Bedouin’ is a beautiful track and will help people see the beauty in a culture that they may otherwise overlook.

‘Mystic Bedouin’ is released on Friday 8th May on the renowned Cafe De Anatolia label.
