Maha, Ian Charles & Soi Cowboy

The name Soi Cowboy conjures up some fun images of the guys and gals having great times in tropical lands. However, we are not in downtown Bangkok, but uptown Canggu, namely Jl. Pantai Batu Mejan, near Canggu Raya, in the Maha Resort speaking to Ian Charles about his latest opening project. The former 90’s Double Six DJ, experienced manager from The Forge, more recently Luna Beach Club, and now international party-property developer is quite chuffed with this latest project.

The complex is nothing less than amazing. There are 46 large suites out the back in the spacious Maha Resort, which is an accommodation built for young, but sophisticated party-goers from around the world, with loads of space, a classy swim-up pool bar and DJ booths banging out the tunes, a massive gym, restaurants with tasty dining and bar areas, all solidly built for recreation and above all partying!

Out the front of the complex, you can find the resort’s nightclub, Soi Cowboy. It’s rock solid, kinda large, with an underground feel about it. As we were walking through for an inspection the other day I noticed the dancer poles and cages, and I asked Ian what would sum up the place in one word. “Girls!” was the answer. “I’ve just been poring over the data on the girls we are going to employ. I think there’ll be around 35 on the staff; at the front, on the floor – – – in your lap,” he quips. Ha, I get the point. Just like it’s namesake Soi Cowboy will be all about the girls, and why not? That’s exactly what the boys are after and especially on holidays!

The Maha Resort and Soi Cowboy are not open yet, but not far away. “Very, very softly around New Year,” says Charles. There is also the Society Gastro Pub being built right out on the street front, but that won’t be open till mid 2026.

Keep an eye on this space for further details.
