It’s Monday morning and the sun is shining. I heard someone say recently Bali’s nightlife is getting more and more like Ibiza. That statement has been bandied about since decades ago. I actually recall hearing that for the first time shortly after we started The Beat, I even recall Mixmag or some international magazine coming out here and doing a story about it. I think that was in 2003, during the GWK Castaway period. Well, maybe it is getting to the holy Ibiza mantle nowadays, everything seems to be getting uber-fancy at least. Of course, it is missing the abundance of the main nightlife element of those parts, but the sheer number of happening bars and clubs is almost overwhelming. The Journey is real, friends. It still is hard to say whether Bali will ever be a new Ibiza, and from what I hear about the prices over there – like the price of just walking thru the door for example is ridiculous, maybe it’s better that the Ibiza-style is confined to a small area – as it is now – and it doesn’t take over everything. Leave some space for the regular punter perhaps. It’s all well and good having super fancy, but it isn’t for everyone.
Not sure if you agree, let us know in the comments.
