Editorial. Thursday 7 March, 2024

Nyepi is on the way very soon. Are you ready?? Everyone seems to panic, buying up everything in the local Frestive supermarket the day before in preparation, but actually, Nyepi is a great time to be on the island for many reasons. Besides the festivities on the lead up to the big day, which can be a load of fun, checking the street parades of the Ogoh Ogoh the night before, or the local Hindus in full regalia celebrating a multitude of ceremonies the days before, the day of silence itself, which this year is Tuesday 11 March, is probably the only real day of complete relaxation you will get this year! Enjoy it at home or however you want to enjoy it. It’s up to you.

I would like to give my condolences to family and friends of larger than life, Aussie surfer and family man, Gunther Kitzler who tragically passed away in the surf at G Land on Monday. You would never find a nicer guy, always ready for a chat and laugh. He will be missed by many. May he rest in peace.
