The heat has now arrived to the island as the changing seasons begin a new cycle. It feels like the temperature has risen 5 degrees in the last couple of weeks and the pressure is beginning to show on faces all around town. We’re just about reaching boiling point.
Besides the heat, it is a good time of the year on Bali right now with the Galungan three day break. The people, life and thankfully, the traffic all calm down to a slow pace and it kind of reminds one of how the island should be every 6 months or so. I hope you are enjoying the moment.
So, last week we had a rather big one on Friday night, getting to a few spots all over Seminyak. One of those was Dat Dash, but early to check the STROBE techno show. As expected there weren’t a lot of people there. The music was good, but it is a hard sell getting people anywhere out of the usual time slot. The only way to do it, I believe, is to just do it every week until the wall falls down so to speak. Obviously, that is not guaranteed in any way, either. Saturday we were down in the Kuta area at Padma Resort Ballroom to experience the jazz of the young maestro Joey Alexander and singer Andien. Many old faces were in the crowd including many from the nightlife, who were grabbing a bit of culture while they could. Sunday was all about the jungle, where we headed in the afternoon and spent the evening with Goom Gum, or at least half of them at The Jungle Club in Celuk, Ubud. While it wasn’t overly packed, the crowd seemed to enjoy themselves, except for some miserable sod that wouldn’t be grateful for anything they received, but anyway that is a another story, miserable sods can stay where they want.
All fashionistas should be signing up for the fashion extravaganza this weekend at TS Suites. We speak about it in a story here but yes, sign up now while you still can. Football fever is gripping the island this weekend with the AFL Grand Final on Saturday afternoon. You can tune into that at any good sports bar. At long last they will be opening the Tower at Nuanu City, right in front of Luna Beachclub. We shall see you there!
