Last weekend was all about Ultra Festival at Café del Mar. The music was really quite rowdy, well most of it, but the fun times came in droves. Yes, it was definitely good times all round and the crowd turned up in force, too. I must say it is not easy putting on big shows like that anymore in Bali. The existing events held at places like Savaya and others with international acts every weekend makes it difficult for anything else to stand out. So for sure, they need our support.
When it comes to cool shows though, I don’t think the Bar Italia gig on Tuesday night at Klymax could be beat. The London based band who were on their way back from an Australian tour stopped by for a quick show at Potato Head’s Klymax club which did not disappoint. They turned on a very cool live music session, which was a first for the DJ Harvey built club room. The band lived up to the hype with an outstanding performance of shoe gazing hipster tunes in a Sonic Youth meets Brian Jonestown fashion.
David Trauts headed back to central Kuta last weekend for another look. The objective was to find out what was going on in the old pearl of Bali nightlife, sadly hit by a lack of interest in recent years. See below for the details of Kuta Nightlife Now 02.
