Being February, and very much low season, it is rather quiet around the traps right now and most restaurants, bars and clubs are complaining about the drop in numbers.
It can be a difficult time for business, but it doesn’t arrive unexpected, so at these times you have to put your thinking cap on and come up with something new, or something less – to save some expenses. Being involved twice in F&B businesses in recent years myself I know it all too well. These months can be the toughest and the venues need the help from locals living here to get out and spread some money around – if you have any, of course. There does seem to be a lot more people living here nowadays than ever, so it shouldn’t be so hard. I’m not sure if that statement is based in fact, but it does look like it to me. But I guess they all bring their own cafes, gyms and tattoo shops here, too, so it probably negates the positive effect it could have on the economy. Anyways, get out there and spend some money, folks.
I was listening to a new Diary of a CEO podcast in the middle of last night as the heavy rain came down, which I presume woke me from my sleep. I find podcasts are a great way to send me back to sleep as they drone on, but this one was particularly interesting about saving people from Alzheimer’s disease and in particular, the reminder of how beneficial exercise is. According to the lady talking about it, you can reverse the state of your heart and brain twenty years through regular, but not excessive, exercise, which can stave off those nasty dementia diseases. But this has to happen before late middle age. Thankfully this morning the skies opened up blue for enough time for me to get my dogs out for a walk. I’m sure that regular walk helps. I am also thankful to Edward A organising my first game of doubles tennis last Sunday with some friends after more then two years since the motorbike accident that stopped my tennis career in its tracks. I don’t think you need to be pumping it out in the gym every day but just doing something, anything regularly helps.
Speaking about the rain, the wet season this year has been pretty tough. I can’t recall a season so regularly wet over the past 30 years – but i imagine the mind does play with memories. You can be thankful it has only been raining mostly late at night. Also, that is raining at all, because if not, we’ll all be complaining about how hot it it! I just checked the forecast and the rain is set to continue over the next week and more. Batten down the hatches.
Photos Above: Making Live Music Great Again was the theme, or cry at Seminyak Square’s Tropicana last Saturday night. Bali Live Sessions were playing some classics to an adoring crowd that featured a number of Bali live music fans. Batubelig and Double Six for sunset also featured heavily last week. Yes, the rain has mainly been falling during the night lately. And some family time in Berawa.
Have a good weekend you all!
