Editorial. This week in Bali.

While in the past week I haven’t been out too much, still recovering from the week before, I’ve been doing the right thing when I do go out and catch app taxis instead of driving myself. Not just because of the accident I had last year which kinda put me off going anywhere on my bike again, but also because it just makes good sense to let someone else do the driving if you are out for some drinks and carry on. OK sounds good. However, something I noticed on these late night travels is these app bike drivers appear to be even more drunk than I am. Everyone is hacking around like crazy late in the night, especially on the weekends. As a friend advised when I told him about this situation, “maybe it is better you get in an app car, not the bike, in future.” Good point. I’m on it.

Air Asia announcing last week a direct flight from Bali to Phuket will be coming back to their schedule makes one think we must be really back in action. Tourism, anyway. I recall when they did the same thing a number of years ago it seemed like Southeast Asia had really become super connected and here we are again – connecting! I also saw Etihard has started flights to Bali again. Is there any room for more people? Let’s see.

Last week we were over at Sardine for a few glasses of fine wine with some buddies, followed by DJ Space Motion, which was an excellent set up in the back garden area. That place has become quite an outdoor club! Congratulations to them. And then later we went over to the Nakadia show at Red Ruby. Not sure how many people like techno in this town, they seem to hang off the robes of melodic techno more, and that’s exactly what she supplied in the end. We had a great time as always in the hallowed underground space of RR. Bless them.

And now another weekend beckons.
