I don’t know about you, but I am so fed up with having website, online commentators, or the likes of Quora correspondents trying to shove their dodgy info down my throat. Online is such a mess, you can’t trust anything you read or see anymore. And AI is just taking it to the next unbearable level. Bring back the real press, bring back the magazines! Sure, we have a plan, we are trying to do that. However, let me assure you, it is not that easy.
Last week we dropped down to Double Six Beach to check out our old buddy Jerinx and his trio and a bunch of other bands performing on the beach in front of The Sunset Hut. It was also an event to launch the JRX inspired, new Honda motorbike, Stylo, or was it called Bugsy, not sure. I was also there to watch the footy next door as usual.

Jerinx continues to be a force in music, and even more so in that cut-down trio format, grinding away at some old classics and as always giving his all to the power and sensibilities of rock n roll. Other collectives on the night were also impressive. Especially the hip hop artist group, Goldvoice, and Svara Sessions of The White Swan.
Being set up on the beach and under the stars was pretty cool. However, it was all pretty rowdy, and new for that part of the beach. Actually, I would call that area my part of the beach – if I could be so bold – as I am often there, well, next door, around the sunset hours. So, having a one off show is all well and good, but we noticed yesterday a cover band was set up playing music again and again at an unbearable volume.
I’m not sure why they think they have to be so loud. I’m also not sure how often they intend to put bands on down there, but I don’t think it is a great idea. People go down to the beach at sunset to chill, not to see a band, and especially a band blasting out covers for no particular reason. You really don’t need it and as far as I could tell, no one else nearby looked like they wanted it either.
Keep the beach chilled, maybe put the bands on after 7pm to attract a crowd for the music, but we don’t need another La Plancha stretch of beach, with all those competing bands and DJs destroying the perfectly cool vibe that is already there at sunset. Thank you so much.
Photos Above. More villa action last Saturday night with Djs CRT and EsTeh spinning tunes with a view in the heart of Batu Bolong. That was fun. Later, surf was up down at Balangan Beach.
The weather appears to have broken this week, with rain coming down a few times and dark clouds back in the sky. I can’t recall such good weather, as what has been in the past couple of months, in a very long time. So, let’s hope it clears up again as we head to the pointy end of the Bali High Season. More on that next week.
