The Dome at the Labyrinth in Nuanu City opens this weekend with an intimate show from Ecuadorian/French producer DJ, Nicola Cruz tonight. The Dome features high-tech visual elements, including 12, 16000-lumen projectors for projection mapping and the 30m diameter dome itself. The sound system with 5:1 surround sound is designed to create an immersive audio experience. Nicola Cruz is well known for his cultural explorations into sound, releasing music incorporating sounds from his native Ecuador, among others parts of the world, mixed with his progressive house sensibilities. This should be a totally immersive experience and one not to be missed. That’s tonight. They are also launching the Bali Mystic show in the Dome on Sunday, which will kick off the Dome daily shows depicting a groundbreaking exploration of Balinese culture and spirituality with traditional Balinese music, visuals and dance. More information can be found in the events pages.
Next week Red Ruby has a special show with DJ EZ playing on Wednesday night. DJ EZ is a UK garage DJ from Tottenham, North London. He was one of the earliest proponents of UK garage music on radio and in the club, hosting a long-running Kiss 100 radio show and mixing the Pure Garage series of compilations. He has DJ-ed all over the world and this week it’s his first time in Bali at Red Ruby. Get your Wednesday night party clothes on, friends. It should be fun.
Lots going on last week. The pics above are from DEUS, Batik and Al Diwan restaurants and Villa Veni Vidi Vici in Ubud.
Last week was filled with fun moments enjoyed by many, but none more than me. I dropped over to the Dave Eagles art exhibition opening on Saturday evening at DEUS, which was a rather sociable occasion and quite successful for my old friend and initial partner in The Beat. He said after there were only a few pieces unsold at the end of the night.
Monday night I was at Batik, previously known as Khaima, for the 25th anniversary of the Bali Boule Club. I religiously attended the boule games at Dayu Sri’s place in Petitenget for 5 or 6 years back in the day and must give thanks Jan for continuing the tradition and getting us all together. I must say the Cous Cous at Batik was very enjoyable and as good as any in town. Congratulations Pak Driss. Anyone that ejoys a great dish of cous cous should get along soon to try it.
Wednesday I was invited to the Villa Veni Vici Vici near Ubud for the launch of Bali Super Host’s new project, bestay. It was a wonderful dinner with great company; some ol’ skool Bali PR people with the latest, greatest and especially, younger influencer crowd. It was an interesting mix and fantastic night under the stars and on the lawn of this luxury villa. Make sure to check their amazing website bestay.com now!
Later we were in Les Toilettes with teh return of Shammui and El Didion’s RISE. It was a rather big Wednesday night out and about.
