Editorial. This week in Bali.

I was chatting with someone about the state of clubbing the other night and they had an interesting take on it. He was saying that with all this guest list stuff that goes on nowadays at the venues the face of nightlife is changing – “there’s more posing for photos and looking good than people really engaging with the music and meeting like-minded souls.”

“Obviously a big part of nightlife is meeting people,” he continued, “and everyone coming together for a good time, but nowadays these tables of hot chicks just sit there looking down their noses at everyone and taking photos of themselves is all rather pathetic,” he opined. “Many are actually dispencing the GL too, so they are basically at the club to make some extra cash and probably have boyfriends at home waiting for them!” He surmised.

But I suppose it looks good for the Instagram account, and the club owners would enjoy having beautiful women in their space attracting big spenders to come looking for them, right? I replied. “Yes true, but for the people living here, especially, who are just looking for a great night out among their peers are left in the cold and the overall effect I feel is not great for the nightlife. And don’t get me started on the intence bottle adoration that goes on, too!”

Well, we are not sure about all that, but what do you think? Has nightlife changed lately at all because of the guest list and promoters?
