Next week is Christmas and then quickly after we are into 2026. Well, how about that?
Savaya, being closed this week, gives everyone a chance to breath―well, the other venues in town, at least. Savaya, perched on the southern cliffs of Bali, is by far the largest, most famous and most important venue on the island, and add to that their sister ship in Canggu, Desa Kitsune and you have a formidable force in clubbing and entertainment. Every weekend they have some of the biggest names in the electronic music industry playing in their venues. As I have said before, having that power force in town doesn’t leave much room for anyone else to put on major events, or smaller festivals, even though last weekend there was a huge event for the masses at GWK. Of course, DWP is a different market and style, attracting a younger and more local crowd, but the entry price is not so different to Savaya. They also have around 60 international and local DJs to pay for. There were thousands of punters at GWK, but did Savaya even notice it was on? The Saturday at Savaya with Nora en Pure was packed as normal. Meanwhile, you can’t blame the smaller venues and promoters for not being very confident putting on larger events nowadays since the megalithic Savaya consumes all before them. It’s a risky business. If not careful, the small guys could blow everything they’ve got in one weekend. Anyway, Savaya are taking time off and closing for almost 2 weeks, which gives the other venues a chance to cash in. Trouble is no one is around right now. Yes, they are taking a break before the storm begins, and that is, of course, the fast approaching Christmas and New Year season.
Once again Savaya has a major line-up of acts on the way – and while there is nothing exactly new on the list, it doesn’t appear to matter much, as most of the people that will be here and partaking are probably here for the first and only time of their lives.
Photos Above: We dropped down to check out the new version of The Orchard in Legian last weekend. It is bigger and the stage is huge. We will have to wait and see what they do with it, but so far so good.
So yes, not long long now to Christmas and NYE. It all kicks off next week, of course. And isn’t that crazy. This year has moved so fast and with so many moments, good and bad, at times it’s felt hard to hold on, but still here we are, holding on. More next week!
Have a good weekend you all!
