It seems Berawa has suddenly taken off in the nightlife world of Bali. The main corner next to the playing field has exploded recently with new bars opening and people appearing to come from everywhere. Any night right now from 11pm it is rammed, spilling over with people looking for the good times, mainly tourists, but also, depending on the venue, locals and expats. It started with Mesa on one corner and Miss Fish up Jalan Raya Semat maybe 200 metres a while back. Now Shady Pig has moved across the road on the eastern corner and with Bella down Jalan Pantai Berawa heading south having their special nights, which now seem to be most nights of the week, that whole area is popping. Actually, it reminds me a lot of Kuta in its heyday. Anyone here remember those times? So anyway, join the fray, it could be what you are looking for.
Meanwhile, there is a lot of talk in the US press about alcohol and the need for printing health warnings on bottles like cigarette packets, since it has been connected with development of cancer. “For certain cancers, like breast, mouth, and throat cancers, evidence shows that the risk of developing cancer may start to increase with around one or fewer drinks per day,” U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy said in an advisory. This is definitely something that should concern everyone who wants a healthy life, which appears to be more people than ever, but also the entire nightlife business. It is hard to imagine any nightlife without alcohol, or some kind of stimulant, but having said that, we have already seen an uptick in non-alcoholic events in recent years. There is plenty of that happening on this island already with ecstatic dancing events and daytime café DJ events popping up here and there. However, it does make you wonder, what is going to happen with nightlife in the next decade? Interesting stuff, indeed.
Anyway, the nightlife’s still happening again this weekend in all its glory all over the island. Check the event pages, or the The Beat Update which is being sent out now to our list. If you aren’t on it, you know what to do.
But meanwhile again, maybe keep this in mind, everything in moderation is probably a great idea.
Enjoy your weekend!
