How busy do you think it is right now? There seems to be a lot of traffic on the roads lately. Gets to the point it is bloody dangerous. Advice: Just take it easy on the roads dudes. Especially you with the Gmax!
There has been a lot of talk lately in the local press about how busy Bali appears to be at the moment, but businesses are still not seeing much action – financial action. The hotels of Nusa Dua say they had poor occupancies over the recent holidays, but around Kuta Seminyak Canggu it appears to be going gangbusters. Everyone is blaming illegal villas for the downturn in hotel occupancy, but then I talk to friends with villas and they say it has been real bad since the start of the year. Hard to say, but my feeling is the general global economic downturn, not just the local Indonesian downturn, which has been massive over the past months, has a lot to do with it. Also, the reality of so many people moving to Bali full time, not just foreigners, but also Indonesians from every part of the archipelago has a lot to do with the traffic being so busy. Just check how many locals there are around you next time you’re in a macet. Also how many beautiful looking girls there are too! No doubt about it, the place is packed.
The real question is, when will the Bali government be doing something about it? The traffic situation, that is. Hard to say if and when that is gonna happen, but we do need it soon, bos.
Meanwhile, last week was pretty hectic around Bali nightlife. You can read what we were up to in a separate story. No one seems to be complaining about the numbers in the nightlife industry, except former promotion companies, like this one, of course. I don’t think they have had it so good in years! Everywhere seems to be packing them in early and pushing them out the door late.
