Editorial. This week in Bali.

I suppose the big news this week in Bali entertainment was the cancellation of Carl Cox at Desa Kitsune on Tuesday night. There was a lot of anticipation in town for that event, and especially after the massive show he had put on at Savaya the previous Saturday. The videos on social media from Saturday looked amazing and since he was doing a rare Disco Set, anticipation was high, with many folk getting dressed up in the 70’s disco finest to make the most of it.

I arrived at around 11pm and was told by the girl at the front that “Carl Cox has cancelled and won’t be playing tonight.” I took a step back and asked, you said what? And she repeated that Carl Cox won’t be playing. Really? Yes, we heard just 10 minutes ago, he’s sick and cannot attend the show. Wow! I walked inside and the venue, Desa Kitsune was packed. I found my friends at the back and nobody knew about it. Talk about being the bearer of bad tidings! And after finding out, no one really knew what to do, or to say. It was such a bummer, such a disappointment, but what can you do? Nothing, besides try to enjoy yourself. Obviously, it was a calamity for the business and everyone involved, as I believe tickets have been refunded etc, and the costs must be astronomical.

We stuck around for a while with the disco tunes from Nacho Corominas substituting the best he could and a lot of people stayed till late. Later, we moved onto another bar and made quite a night of it in the end. Moral of the story; make the most of any situation that comes your way.

I received a message from Carl Cox the next day after getting in contact and asking what the problem was. He said, Bali belly, not funny at all. If I could have been there I would. I will be back. 😎❤️

I’m sure we will all look forward to it, Mr Cox, and get well soon. I did tell him about Norit charcoal tabs, I hope someone else did, too. (BTW Norit, or charcoal tablets from any chemist work wonders for me with an upset stomach. Not sure about anyone else. DYOR)

Photos Above: A couple of shots I took at the Carl Cox show at Desa Kitsune last Tuesday. There were a lot of people there. Our friend decided to celebrate NYE again, which was aload of fun at Alila Seminyak for lunch and Body Works in Petitenget – what a beautiful spa that is! And meeting Cammie and friends at Made’s Warung.

Meanwhile, this weekend is rather massive. Some of the biggest DJ names on the planet are here this week. Check the events page to find out more.

Have a good weekend you all!
