Editorial. This week in Bali.

Thankfully, the volcano eruption in Flores this week hasn’t caused too much trouble at Bali airport. Many flights were cancelled on Wednesday and Thursday, but it appears the wind direction has changed slightly since Thursday afternoon pushing the ash away from Bali. Of course, the wind direction can change at any moment again so I can’t imagine we are out of the woods just yet. It was reported this morning there was another eruption at 8.30 am today. Many will recall the nightmare we had when Mount Agung Erupted in 2017 with the airport closing for 3 days at least. Let’s hope Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki calms down soon.

Last weekend we were rather busy, with first a Tequila presentation event put on by Espolon Tequila, a local brand made from imported agava from Mexico. This was at La Brisa. The taste is good, as good as many tequilas on the market, and apparently you can find it as a house pour in most bars around town. Go get it!

Next up was a raging party over at Sardine with two special guest French DJs in town, Dorian Craft and Baron (Fr) for the weekend. The place was pumping, both Sardine and Les Toilettes and the music was especially good. You have to love Sardine holding onto the old, indoor/outdoor Bali style from before. The stuff most people come to Bali to enjoy. It is one of the few that keeps the Bali style we all know and love from years gone by going and needs to be commended for such. Later we were down at Red Ruby to make sure Darin Epsilon was continuing to play awesome music, which he was. Red Ruby continues to be the home of house and techno in town, make sure you get along. Another great night on the island. Sunday, we went down to Le Bleu restaurant in Nusa Dua, which was a fancy affair with the same French DJs from Sardine spinning the tunes. Unfortunately, not so busy, but fun in any case. Le Bleu is a beautiful spot right on the beach, not to be missed.

This weekend, it looks like all the usual suspects, with events on at Tabu – Maqossa, Ulu Cliffhouse – Full Moon Party on Saturday, Red Ruby has Matt Caseli on Friday. Les Toilettes is happening both Friday and Saturday; Sardine and Kabana are having the weekend off. Drop over to check Dave Eagles artwork at Deus on saturday evening.
