Found right in front of Kuta Beach, Royal Rama Spa is located inside the Kuta Seaview Boutique Resort & Spa. Wonderfully decorated with Balinese style, the hotel is an excellent choice to liberate yourself from the buzz of the busy beach. Stepping into the spa, you will be greeted with super attentive staff who know exactly what you need. They will lead you into the spa room passing a stone floored hallway with dimmed lights and pleasant fragrance – a good starter for a thorough relaxation. Once you get into the room you will see the fusion of modern and traditional decoration with a large bathtub and roofless wooden floor for the shower.
FEEL
We tried the icon of Royal Rama Spa treatments, which is the 60 minute Traditional Balinese Body Massage (IDR459K) with the Rama Exotic Scrub, also for 60 minutes (IDR540K). The treatment started with a gentle foot bath, then the therapist lead us to lay on the bed facing down with a beautiful floating flower bowl placed under the face cradle, complemented with soothing traditional melodies for a deeper state of relaxation. The massage began with a light pressure across the legs before moving into firm effleurage technique or sliding movement along with blends stretching and acupressure throughout the legs for a balanced body and relaxed mind. The same series of movements continued onto the back of the body and again facing upwards. Done with the massage, the treatment continued with the scrub with the therapist smearing a traditional scrub mixture on to the legs and the body letting it dry for some time while we enjoyed the cool sensation coming from the mixture of traditional herbs. Last, the scrub was gently wiped off from the skin leaving a clean and purified feel on the skin. After the treatments were finished, we were offered to sip on a herbal drink made of ginger, cinnamon and clove along with a sweet ginger biscuit.
INGREDIENTS
There are two choices of oil provided for the treatment. They are ‘energizing’ and ‘passion’, all are based on coconut oil blended with turmeric, with some distinctly picked leaves and roots. As for the scrub mixture, Royal Rama Spa gives a varity of choice such as sandalwood, chocolate, green tea and rose combined with rice flour and turmeric.
