The spa is nestled in the thick of Montigo Resort Seminyak’s tropical garden, which is in full view from the spa’s expansive windows. The decor is elegant and understated, with island-resort vibes and traditional Indonesian touches.
THE TREATMENT
We had the pleasure of experiencing the Montigo Massage. The spa’s signature treatment uses a unique blend of Hawaiian Lomi-Lomi and Swedish massage techniques to relieve muscle tension and aches.
You select one of three distinct aromatherapy oils before the treatment begins depending on the sensation you are after—either sensual, revitalizing, or energizing. Your therapist will invite you to soak your feet in a mild lemon-infused bath as she applies a scrub that will exfoliate and renew thoroughly.
As you lay face down, the therapist will loosen you up with brisk squeezing motions over the entire body. The oil of your choosing is then worked in as the kneading deepens into long, spiraling strokes. The massage transitions seamlessly from the upper and lower body in what seems like one unbroken movement. The harmonious, almost hypnotic, flow allows you to reach a state of ultimate relaxation as your therapist works through the rest of your body.
Upon completion of the treatment, you are welcome to use the private outdoor shower or request to be wiped down with a damp towel. A warm ginger-honey beverage awaits you in the lobby to seal in the restorative effects of the treatment.
INGREDIENTS
Montigo Spa’s uses only natural ingredients bought from the local market and crafted all oils and ointments in-house.
A crisp peppermint, sea-salt scrub is used during the foot bath. The aromatherapy oils include an energizing rosemary, spearmint, and lemongrass; sensual black pepper, sandalwood, cedar wood, and ylang-ylang; and revitalizing ginger, black pepper, and peppermint.
