It’s festival time on Gili Air from June 20 – 24, 2019! The Slow Food & Yoga Festival is a 5-day event that includes yoga classes, tasteful Indonesian cuisine, cooking competitions, and local shows and performances. It’s a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of the daily grind and recenter yourself with grounding activities. Yoga is at the core of this festival, and as such all disciplines of the practice will be facilitated from sunrise to sunset. Everything from Acro Yoga, Sound Healing, Meditation, and Ecstatic Dance will be taught by acclaimed international gurus such as Nadine McNeil, Sharni Quinn, and Steffi Lopez Gonzalez. In terms of food, there will be a local farmers’ and artisan market throughout the festival. Local producers and food pioneers are set to hold food workshops and seminars for those looking to up their game. The highlight is expected to be the cooking competitions facilitated and by a host of top celebrity chefs from the region. The festival hosts cultural evenings as well, featuring carefully selected music, film, and artworks to entertain and enlighten. If you’re on the island in June make sure to book your tickets in advance. All proceeds from ticket sales will be supporting zero-waste permaculture gardens on the island and helping to foster long-term sustainability initiatives at the core of the island.
