One of the best days of surf graced the Rip Curl Trials as 32 local lads surfed their hearts out in an attempt to make the main event this year. As the WSL’s elite battled throughout the tricky conditions at Keramas, Padang Padang boasted 32 of Indonesia’s top surfers in an all-day barrel fest. Local boy Artana stole the show with his first-place score of 17.33 followed by Bukit beast Agus “Blacky” Setiawan. Among the invitees of the 2018 Rip Curl Cup are WCT legends like Taj Burrow, Damien Hobgood, Mason and Jack Robinson. The event will take place from July 1 – 31, a full month during the peak of the islands prime swell season, providing the event with the best odds of procuring the world-famous jade barrels of Padang-Padang.
