With the World Surf League in Bali for two WSL contests, it was great to see the Keramas contest named Corona Bali Protected. A name referring to protecting the ocean from plastic trash. Ironically on the 3rd day of competition the onshore winds at Keramas had pushed in plenty of plastic trash for the international guests to witness first hand. A few of the surfing super stars, John John Florence (pictured left), Jordy Smith and Sebastian Ziets kindly offered a hand to pick up some trash with the team from Keep Bali Clean. Although the awareness is dramatically increasing in Bali and Indonesia, it’s going to be another decade until we start to see a dramatic reduction in the plastic entering the ocean. However, every bit of help we can get to creating social awareness here and abroad will make a difference. So, a big thank you to the pro surfers and let’s help make Bali clean again.
