Ki Shiatsu Opens in Seminyak

A new shiatsu spa has opened up at the Kerobokan end on Sunset Road and right next to KZU/Wabi Sabi restaurant. On the menu are therapeutic shiatsu and traditional massages and in great Japanese Zen fashion it is offering simple treatments, with a simple Japanese style. At Rp 135k per hour or Rp 195k for 90 mins it comes in at the lower end of the spa treatment ledger in town, but you sure do get a lot of bang for your buck at Ki Shiatsu & Massage.

The shiatsu treatment I experienced was performed by a male masseuse and with the aid of the hanging bars above he began by putting intense pressure on my feet, legs and back – which was just what they needed. He was also adept at using his elbows, knees, hands as well as feet and giving every muscle a pounding, a stretching and a rubbing all over. It was pure Japanese shiatsu bliss.

The décor is also very Zen in design; simple, functional and comfortable. Tones are warm, with the use of bamboo and light coloured woods and veneers, sliding doors, cloth hung ceilings. The Japanese music coming from the sound system is guaranteed to sooth the soul while your body is savouring the power on every pressure point. I wouldn’t have been surprised to see a Kabuki dancer appear from behind one of the curtains, it’s so authentic. The phone charger on the shelf next to every massage bed could come in handy for busy people around town too.
Just relax, the world will wait for you outside.
They asked to write down your opinion of the massage experience in the book as you walk out. I wrote ‘Very Zen’. Ki is Zen and a whole lot more too.
