Mark James Gatecrashes Bali

Aussie DJ, producer and promoter, Mark James is coming back with a new series of events after a few years away from the island and this first show out of the blocks should be a belter. Gatecrasher: The Return of the Lion is on at Double Six Rooftop on Wednesday, August 23. The Beat had a chat with Mark to find out where he’s been and what we can expect at the gig.
So Mark, we hear you’re making a return to the Island of the Gods. Tell us more and what’s been happening with yourself?
Since the last time I visited Bali some years ago with the Famous parties at the old Double Six Club I’ve had a few career and life changes. After departing from my company Future Music in 2013 I took some well-deserved time off. I’ve since dived back into one of my first loves; writing and producing music. I’ve also now started a new touring company in Australia, Universal Touring Events (UTE) which will be operated in the same way Future did touring quality artists and staging major events.
Tells us a little bit about what we can expect with Gatecrasher which is coming to Double Six Rooftop?
Gatecrasher is such an iconic clubbing brand so we’ve tried to keep a mixture of old and new DJs to represent this, with the likes of legendary techno DJ, Mauro Picotto, Gatecrashers music director Scott Bond, the amazing psy-trance DJ from Polland, Indecent Noise, along with Australia’s fasting rising star on the world stage, Factor B. Gatecrasher prides itself on quality music and production so expect something very special on the amazing roof top of Double Six Hotel.
You will also be playing a Gatecrasher pre-party at Mirror and the Gatecrasher after-party at the new Soka Club, tell us what we can expect?
I haven’t changed my outlook to DJing over the years. I’m a firm believer of playing quality music mixed across a few different styles, I would say my music is bouncy techno with a party twist. I’ll be joined at the pre-party by DJ Innerlight, a big local favourite and at the after-party I’ll be spinning with Gatcrasher’s Factor B. Expect two great parties to complement the main show, Gatecrasher.
So what can we expect in the near future from Mark James.
I’m trying to finish an album at present which is nearly done, I’m just adding the final touches to it. With the company I’m working on a lot of tours and festivals for 2018 and I hope some will make it to Bali. I’m also currently just about to launch a Global Underground Twenty Tour with two amazing DJs, so stay tuned for that one hitting your shores very soon.
