You Gotta Love It! Patrix Johnson records Pacha Festival anthem track

Patrix Johnson is a Dutch DJ/producer and was charged to produce this year’s inaugural Pacha Festival Bali 2017 anthem. He came to Bali for Dreamfields Bali (GWK) and instantly fell in love with the island and has lived here now for two years, hosting a weekly night in Sky Garden, where he unloaded a different sound than people were used too here in Bali. The new music, future house, has worked out fine for him, winning the Best House DJ 2016 at The Beat Awards last year and packing the venue every time he plays.
The Beat had a chat with Patrix recently and we started by asking him for a bit of background and how he got started in the biz. “I started DJ’ing at a very young age. My grandfather (Dad’s side) had a radio station back in Holland when I was a kid and I really liked to see him work and helped putting the records on the turntable. This made me buy records from a really young age and started to play and make music as a hobby.”

How did the Pacha Bali anthem come about?
Patrix: I had a meeting with the Pacha Festival director about my booking at the event. We were talking about music and the progression that it is making nowadays. I’m producing a lot music at this moment and spend a lot of time in the studio to make new house and future house tracks so he asked me if I wanted to make the anthem for Pacha Festival Bali. It was an honor so of course I said yes! That’s how it started.
So what kind of music is Pacha playing nowadays?
Pacha is well known for the clubs (as we speak 10 locations all over the world) where all sorts of house music is played but they focus on more credible sounds and artists. Pacha was one of the first clubs in Ibiza and for me legendary when it comes to the house music scene. It’s great to be part of the lineup for the first edition of Pacha in Bali, together with some of my personal hero’s like Roger Sanchez and Steve Angello but also to play again together with Fedde who’s an old friend from Holland.
So what is the track “Love It” all about?
“Love It” is a modern vocal house track with future house and pop influences. For this song I collaborated with a Dutch writing team that have written numerous great dance records for Spinnin’ Records and many others.
You can catch Patrix on August 18 at Pacha Festival Bali and listen to the anthem “Love It” online right now or look out for it at the Festival.
