KANTIN MADAME

If you are living in Bali, you should already love Indonesian food and if you are a tourist – Indonesian food should definitely be one of your top food to eat list. Either way, aside from the common querie about where to eat the best Indonesian food on the island – Bali has become the home of more and more wellness concious people, the new common concern is finding Indonesian food without MSG hidden in it.
Good news for Canggu residents, Kantin Madame opened in mid October 2017 on Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong, serving everything you love about Indonesian food and what’s even more special about this place is that it promotes an Eco friendly business, it excludes MSG completely from all of the food they are serving and if that’s not awesome enough – how about the food being pretty darn cheap?

Besides serving many of the Indonesian classics such as fried rice, fried noodles, cap cay, chicken satay and soto – priced between IDR 15–18K, Kantin Madame has quite a selection of western dishes too, such as waffles (try their yummy nutella waffle!), omelette, smoothie bowl, salad, juices and yes… your daily dose of good coffee, which is freshly ground daily.”

This eco friendly warung uses mineral water to wash their ingredients and uses only fresh (not frozen) meat, chicken and fish. Don’t expect a plastic bag if you opt for take aways, Kantin Madame uses recycled newspapers for takeaway bags – although bio plastic bags made of cassava skin are available for additional cost of IDR 2K if you need one. Using milk as one of the ingredients for either coffee or cakes, they also donate the empty milk boxes to Eco Bali to recycle.

Healthy, tasty and affordable home cooked Indonesian and western buffets are being served six days a week at Kantin Madame – with tasty morsels like their tasty nasi bakar (totally recommended), tempe BBQ, mie godog, eggplant balado, shredded chicken with rujak sauce and one of my Indonesian favorites, salty squid with green chilli, available seasonally. Fancy some French food? Yep, Kantin Madame has it available too! Try their Hachis Parmentier (a dish made with mashed, baked potato, combined with diced meat and sauce lyonnaise and served in the potato shells).
Yes, Vegan food is available and yes, free Wi-Fi is too!
Kantin Madame open from 7 AM to 9 PM, everyday ( Closed on Monday ).
