Date For 2 : Teppanyaki Corner

If you have an affinity for theatrical performance and Japanese grilled meat and seafood, the Teppanyaki Corner at the Grand Istana Rama Hotel in Kuta is a new hot spot you’re going to love. Located on bustling Jalan Pantai Kuta, where the ocean meets the popular tourist destination and its many beachfront hotels, the Teppanyaki Corner sits alongside the Samudera restaurant at the Grand Istana Rama.

Chef Wim is in charge of the kitchen and theatrics, supplying as much of a great mood as his enticing culinary performance stimulates your senses and your belly. Wim started off the Teppanyaki journey with a Garlic Fried Rice (20k) and a well-seasoned Lobster Trio (450k) that came with some highly recommended YumYum Sauce. Wim’s secret recipe.

Next up was the Tuna Tataki (45k) and the King Prawn Mayo (175k). As the creation process began, we chatted to Wim about his love of entertaining and quickly came to the conclusion that his enjoyment behind the grill is really what ties the whole experience together. I have always loved watching my food being cooked in-front of me and Wim and his team are the perfect hosts.

Shortly after, the Scallop Ninjin Motoyaki (95k) and two grades of delicious marbled wagyu tenderloins (135k) and (195k) appeared before us. These dishes were our stand out dishes. Cooked to your liking. Juicy and tender. A totally melt-in-your-mouth experience.

We enjoyed these dishes off the ala carte Teppanyaki menu, seated in front of the iron grill. We looked into each others eyes and that’s when the magic began to happen.
