Date For 2 : Gardin Bistro & Patisserie Bali

Enjoy a date with your partner and revel in the unique environment that Gardin has to offer. Situated on Jalan Petitenget No.106 on the street front of popular Mirror nightclub, Gardin Bistro & Patisserie houses an intimate and cosy atmosphere, with an outdoor glasshouse surrounded by lush tropical plants and greenery. The vibe in the greenhouse is wonderous, the crystal-clear view of the jungle and sky above give a feeling of encapsulated satisfaction.

“We wanted to differentiate ourselves from the current industrial design trend” says owner, Jason Kurniawan. “As well as using a combination of glass, texture and elements to try and make a beautiful marriage between the man-made and natural.”

My partner and I started our culinary journey in the glasshouse with something we had both not yet tried, the Escargot Provencale (78k) was a sight to behold and tasted a lot better than we both expected. The Gardin Roasted Chicken Salad (58k) came with the snails and was devoured by my companion, as most of the ingredients are her all-time favourite veges.

As we sat and talked about how weird it was that our first snail experience was in Bali, a refreshing Strawberry Peach Prairie (55k) mocktail appeared before us, washing down the entrees in preparation for the mains. The Beef Wellington (148k) came first and was my personal favourite dish of the day. It combined all the right elements and textures – the juicy beef and succulent mushrooms with the crispy puff pastry and stringy spinach along with the red wine shallot sauce, simply divine!

Our second main, the Pork Knuckle with Balinese Condiments (385k) arrived shortly after and was a certified bomb. Definitely enough for two and perfect for anyone wanting to try some traditional Balinese spices with some high-quality meat.

To finish off, it was time for dessert. We’re both suckers for sweets and Gardin’s extended selection of cakes and treats did not disappoint. We opted for the Gardin Cheescake (55k) and the Triple Chocolate Mousse (69k). We will be back for more! [JW]
