Date for 2: Manarai Beach House

Looking for a luxurious lunch date with great food, uber-attentative staff and amazing beachfront beats? Look no further than Manarai Beach House, right next to the Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort. Responsible for the revival, or even birth of the music scene in Nusa Dua, Manarai has hosted some of the biggest shows in the area featuring acts like ASAP Rocky, techno queen Charlotte De Witte and most recently staging the Sunny Side Up Festival with the likes of Flume and more! With all the hype behind them, Manarai Beach House, with their Ismaya Group credentials, are on top of the game, but wait till you try the exemplary food and drinks Executive Chef Stefan Poyet and Corporate Culinary Maverick Phillip Mimbimi have put together!

The menu itself is 100% ingredient driven with local Balinese and Indonesian influences, covering a wide range of flavours and textures, with eclectic comfort food that is just outright delicious! You can find touches from French, Japanese and Italian cuisines but their traditional Balinese specialties are highly recommended. Not to mention the complementing whimsical cocktails, some of which refer back to the design of the beach house and others that just make you want to say yeehoo! Our favourite is the C-Cup (155k), a silky vodka-based cocktail served in a coconut that tastes like the tropical gods gifted us their sacred nectar.

We began our wonderful date at one of the couches beside the pool, and as I have become somewhat of a regular at Manarai, I knew exactly which starters to order. You can’t go wrong with the Crispy Tuna Tempe (135k) with truffle aioli. You know when people ask you that silly question “if you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?”, well this is it for me. A stand-out dish well deserved of its current praise. This came along with some tender Wagyu Beef Satay (200k), a Dragon Roll (155k) and another beautifully presented Twisted Tiki (155k) cocktail.

After some frolicking on the beach and a quick dip in the pool, we opted for a mix of meat and fish for our main courses. Kicking off with a Pan-fried seabass (355k) and the succulent US Grain-Fed Skirt Steak (295k), that satisfied our cravings to the full! It was almost time to head back home, but every Date for 2 should end with something sweet, don’t you agree?

We ended this incredible experience with the Wingko Babat (135k) a thick coconut cake served with chocolate ganache, fresh berries and coconut ice cream, as well as the classic Banana Split (145k). Don’t waste another moment, make sure you taste the flavours of Manarai Beach House straight away!
