Waterman’s Awards 2019: Another great success

Last Saturday night, R.O.L.E. Foundation presented their 6th annual Waterman´s Awards Night and once again it was a great success, this year in the beautiful setting of the new Pier Eight beachside restaurant area of the Fairmont Hotel in Sanur. The 150 guests were treated like kings in the elegant surroundings.

After opening formalities with MC Edward Speirs and R.O.L.E. Foundation Advisor and Board Member, Mr. Rory Callaghan, and finishing the casual dining, which fitted the atmosphere perfectly, the awards began in earnest.

The Waterman’s Award winners were as follows..

Award for the Best Coastal or Island Community Service – Zero Plastic Lembongan
Best Coastal and Island Community Service Award – NGO Kopernik.
Lifetime Zero Waste to Ocean – Bali Fokus/Nexus
Zero Waste to Landfill – Alila Villas Uluwatu
Zero Waste Business Model – Zero Waste Bali



Next the entire venue was blacked out and the LED Water Percussion performance wowed the attendees before the next awards were presented.

Academic for Clean Ocean – SMP PGRI 3 DPS
Waterman´s Award Clean Oceans Diveathon Award Winner – Best Clean Reef Initiative – went to Bali Dive Resort and Spa
Youth Role Models – Ms. Luh De Dwi Jayanthi and Ida Bagus Mandhara Brasika
Youth Watersports – Ms. Diah Rahayu
Best Local Initiative – Gede Robi Navicula
Waterman of the Year – I Wayan Gendo Suardana (received with resounding applause from the guests)
Waterwoman of the Year – Jane Fischer

After the main awards were presented, the photographic competition winner was announced – Gerry Nolis.

Next the LIVE and silent auctions were completed and the lucky door prizes presented. The finale of the evening was the announcement that this year’s Waterman’s Awards 2019 event had raised Rp. 396,123,762 which will go towards the ROLE Foundation’s children and youth waste management, and women’s skills education programs..
