Empire Fit Club Bali

New gyms have been popping up in Bali for the past few years, mainly all over the Canggu area. While new trendy workouts seems to be born every week and the range of different training sessions from Crossfit, MMA and the many fusions between becoming easier to access, Bootcamp training remains a favorite for many, including myself. This military style training known to be one of the best results driven types of workouts that challenges every muscle in your body. And although it can get quite intense, Bootcamp training caters to all fitness levels and abilities – as long as you have the will to start and do your best! Now, almost every gym offers Bootcamp like classes but if you want to have a real experience of a good ol’ bootcamp training with an actual former military person leading the class then checkout Empire Fit Club Bali.

Elbert Tiwa, Founder and Head Coach of Empire Fit Club is a former active duty US Marine who during his service was in charge in leading Bootcamp training in the field – which makes the class here more of a genuine bootcamp than any other. Elbert who is currently an ambassador and athlete for Under Armour is a Combat Fitness Instructor and specializes in high intensity tactical training. Elbert has always been the athletic type and passionate about fitness and prior to finishing his service in the military, he had planned on materializing his dreams to build a gym in the US. Though the plans were all set, his decision to finally take the piled up annual vacation leave he never had a chance to use took him in the other direction.

His decision took him to Jakarta which is where the Empire Fit Club journey started. During his time in the big durian, Elbert failed in finding a gym matching his criteria and that, to him was the sound of opportunity knocking the door – despite finding out later that starting a business in Jakarta was a lot more complicated due to so many reasons including the common lease term that required him to pay a couple years up front for the space he wanted – which he couldn’t afford, he answered that opportunity anyway. Elbert took the leap of faith by starting it small through his Military Fitness Basic Training which was established in Jakarta in 2013 where he slowly but surely brought people together to sweat it out and eventually built a community of like minded individuals.
As the business grew, the opportunity to expand finally took Elbert to the Island of the Gods where he built Empire Fit Club Bali.
Situated in Kerobokan, right in between the two hip areas of Canggu and Seminyak, and not only attracting visiting tourists, the gym gets packed daily with local fitness enthusiasts. Their Grand Opening was on August 17, hosting an amazing bunch together to train, eat and celebrate Indonesia’s Independence Day. It was a festive Grand Opening event, despite the rainy and stormy weather.

Empire Fit Club Bali offers all the astonishing benefits of Bootcamp at their spacious semi open gym facility with a beautiful view of the rice fields. Empire Fit is equipped with great quality equipment for those wanting to do other things other than Bootcamp as well. Those who fancy doing crossfit, the space has got everything you could possibly think of, from barbell sets, kettle bells, wall balls, rowing machines, treadmills as well as assault bikes are all on the line up for you. In addition, their amazing obstacle course is equipped with monkey bars, cargo net climb, rope swings and much more – set up exactly how we imagine military personnel do their training. An indoor group class space in the back has glass walls so you can still be training indoors while enjoying beautiful views at all times. While the obstacle course field is probably my favorite section they have, the open space overlooking the rice fields is totally bomb too. Imagine doing yoga here. In other words, Empire fit offered the best of both worlds, more than enough space and great quality equipment for everyone to train and an incredible view to unwind. That’s not all, they are also equipped with onsite accommodation for those who are interested in their retreat program!

Bootcamp Class at Empire Fit Club is available on Monday – Friday at 7am, 9am and 5.30pm and Saturday – Sunday at 9am. The gym opens at 7am – 7pm on Monday – Friday and 8am – 5pm on Saturday – Sunday. Don’t miss out Sunday Funday at Empire Fit Club Bali this September where they are offering a free Bootcamp class at 9am every sunday!
