Roots
Before hitting the big time with Indonesian Idol, Judika had to go through countless singing competitions in his hometown in North Sumatra, as well as in Jakarta. He has been singing since a young age, and at one point, he formed a vocal group with his brother and friends, earning their living by entertaining guests at a local hotel. He followed the stint with a first place win in a provincial-level singing competition before grabbing third place at the national level. In 2005, he joined Indonesian Idol and came out as the runner up.

Meanwhile, his singing career shifted to higher gear when Ahmad Dhani, his long-time fan, took Judika under his wing, making him the lead vocals in the Indonesian band Mahadewa.
