Editorial. This week in Bali.

I am very excited today. Bubbling over in fact. Last night, with help from one of our oldest, and I must say, greatest graphic designers, Teguh, we now have a new events page system that literally flies compared to the previous one. Try it out now! We are also now offering ticketing and guest list options for all events, too. Get in touch if you need such things. So yes, after literally years, and especially the last couple of months, of work, we are no firing on 8 cylinders. It really does put a smile on my face.

Last night, we were in a new-ish spot, Le Bajo up in north Canggu, or Kanggu as the lady called it (or was she AI?) in their promotional video. It garnered much hilarity in the comments section of the post. So much so that it probably became the best viral promo they could have ever imagined. Anyway, our fave DJs on the island were there playing, Papü and Nacho Corominas, so we took the trip up thru the back streets and shortcuts of the northern suburbs and eventually arrived in north Pererenan. It is incredible the amount of new buildings, hotels, villas, restaurants and everything else that has popped up in that area, but by the time we got to Le Bajo, the building spree had thinned out dramatically. I see why people would like to live up that way, but gee, it is along way from the airport, Denpasar, and the generally anything in south Bali. The new extension of Jalan Gatsu will possibly improve the trip to DPS, if it ever happens, but we do hope it is built very quickly!

Meanwhile, we arrived at Le Bajo. The place is like a day club, mostly outdoor, rather stylish, but not over the top, and all round pretty cool. The event was put on by a group, or a fella, called Lamatine Productions and it was good to get to a new venue and vibe. Also good to be in a venue that offers beach sand between your toes and free shots. Woah!
You know, with some of the large, uber-popular venues, with their amazing offerings and spectacular shows just dominating the numbers, and not leaving much more for anyone else, it is good to see someone giving it a go and doing a good job of it.

We later moved onto Sardine and Les Toilettes, and man, that place has a vibe. I think I preferred it last night to their Saturday night extravaganzas; less busy, more charming and always good to have a chat with bos Alban and his delightful girlfriend. By the time we made it into the bar I’m afraid we were well smashed. I think it was actually the first time I had been inside since the renovation a few months ago. I couldn’t tell you what changes had been made, but I’m sure they were all good.

Always remember, drink in moderation*
