Editorial. This week in Bali.

Last weekend was rather hectic with Oscar L at Red Ruby on Saturday, my buddy Emre’s birthday at La Favela and also we heard the Traumer show at Ulu Cliffhouse was definitely kicking the proverbial also on Sunday.

As I have said before it is always good to get along to Red Ruby for the big shows and get the opportunity to go all out in the underground way, shame the back space isn’t open for larger groups ‘cause we were going large led by the chief party man himself, Mr G. It was a fun night, but went way too long as I knew I had a birthday gathering to get to the next night, Sunday. Emre was turning all of 30 years old and making the most of it, as it appears he does with everything else in his life. It all came a little unstuck a bit later when he lost his brand new, latest IPhone, obviously worth a fortune. He didn’t realise till the next day, but with help from the owner and others at Malverde, where the lost was reported, the phone found its way back to its owner. Thanks go out to all involved. Great night and fortunately I pulled out earlier than the rest of them.

We had reports from DJ, and party man himself, Papü that Ulu Cliffhouse was next level on Sunday too with French DJ, Traumer spinning on the cliffs down in Ulus, which had every music loving punter in town in the venue grooving it out all night long. “One of the best nights of dancing I have had,” said Papü later. Dunia has another show happening on June 12 at Ulu Cliff. Check the event pages for more details.

I must give my condolences to family and friends of Pak Budi Soetantyo. Pak Budi, as he was so well known around town, passed away last week in Singapore. He leaves a great legacy as owner of many large companies in this country, employing thousands of people, with operations all over the region. He was also a great believer in The Beat magazine, and more so, our now defunct sister publication, FRV, which he became involved in back in 2003. He was a great family man and I must say, one of the sharpest business people I have had the pleasure to meet. He will be greatly missed by many.

Rest in Peace Pak Budi. Thank you for everything, all your help, over the years.
