Editorial. This week in Bali.

Watch out, we have Halloween 2025 kicking off this weekend and it heads right thru till the end of next weekend. By the way, some people, or organisers get so excited about Hallloween you would think that someone actually gave a toss, but hey, the prizes are good! But of course, a lot of people like to get dressed up in fancy dress and this is the occasion to do it. Enjoy!

The main thing in life appears to be connection. This was a sudden epiphany this week. When I look around at everyone doing their stuff, busy with their lives, taking risks, building up experience and generally creating their worlds, I came to the realisation just the other day—it’s not about money, fame and getting ahead in life, it’s about connection. Maybe those things help to make connection with other people, but I don’t think you need much of the trappings to enjoy a good life. There’s no need for multiple houses around the world, or flash cloths and fancy cars and people in your life. You just need a few friends around who you can talk to about things that matter, without judgement, without envy or greed. A friend was just relating how he was thinking something similar while observing the guy who passes his place every day on a bicycle selling something, always with a smile on his face, happy with his lot, saying hello to his regular customers or neighbours. There’s an inner truth there somewhere.

I had a chat with a young Aussie DJ this week about his new project at Gate 88. Well, new for Bali anyway. It’s tough, it’s wild and it’s hard. Maybe it’s just what you are looking for, and I note that event, being held every Wednesday, is all about connection, too. Read about Terminus right here.

Photos Above: Last weekend getting busy at Madan and Damasta. A little visit to the Dewi Sri Bear and getting lost down the road a bit further. It’s all about connection.

I just discovered some new music via an Instagram post from the band The Last Dinner Party. Amazing folky guitar music from a fella that passed away over 50 years ago and I had never even heard the name. Nick Drake. Everyone reading this is probably well aware of the man, but not me, he must have passed down a different road as I was passing thru his town so to speak. It’s an album called Pink Moon. I can see why the lady from Last Dinner Party was so impressed. Have a listen

Have a good weekend you all!
