The 18th Bali International Film Festival (Balinale) is set to take place from June 1-7 at Sanur’s Icon Bali Mall with screenings at the Cinema XXI and The Meru Sanur. The festival will feature a diverse selection of 60 films from 25 countries, with 45 of them being premieres. Enjoying international recognition for its diverse program of independent fiction, documentary, feature, and short films, this year’s edition again continues Balinale’s tradition of showcasing Indonesian and international cinema.
Balinale is recognized as Indonesia’s first and only 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱® 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹.
The Opening Night will be a special evening with the premiere of ‘Flow’ (2024) – Gints Zilbalodis’ breathtaking dialogue-free masterpiece that’s earning global acclaim and officially opens the Balinale 18th! From its Cannes premiere to Oscar glory (Winner: Best Animated Feature), Critics are calling it ‘a wondrous triumph’ and ‘simply stunning’ – and as Balinale founder, Deborah Gabinetti told The Beat, it’s our honor to share this ‘joy to experience’ film with our Balinale community as we launch another extraordinary year of storytelling. It will be shown at Icon Bali Mall at 4.45pm.
