Continuing to wow the crowds down Kuta way, Jamie Oliver’s signature restaurant is now branching out into the realm of brekky, with a new morning menu especially for weekends.
With the same core values of hearty, healthy, homemade Italian-style grub, the new breakfast menu covers all the angles, with plenty of savoury, sweet, light and full-sized choices for all the family from 10am-12pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The Honey Toasted Granola with fresh berries (60k++) is a great place to start for the health-conscious – as is the Super Food Omelette (105k++), a light and fluffy egg white omelette with pulses, grains and cottage cheese, served with smashed avocado, pickled red onion and fresh lime. The Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict (115k++) is also a star performer, with silky Hollandaise and fresh baked ciabatta elevating it to a proper posh breakfast. Along with the usual morning refreshments, a few select cocktails like the Lombardi Bloody Mary (110k++) and the breakfast classic Mimosa (110k++) ensure that you can go grown up, should you feel the need to indulge in a little hair of the dog treatment.
For all other times, the bright, easy to navigate daytime menu features a host of Italian favourites; from antipasti entrees and charcuterie planks to artisan pizzas and of course, pastas. Completing the picture are a selection of carnivorous mains and a smattering of authentic Italian dolce. The menu has had something of a reshuffle since the last time I was here, and now is even better value than ever, so with that in mind I have a go at the 30-Day Matured Prime Sirloin (345k++) with added grilled wild mushrooms, balsamic onions and funky hand-cut chips, while my buddy goes for The Parma Pizza (160k++), an absolute winner with its thin and crispy base, premium Parma ham, parmesan and peppery rocket leaves. We also split a portion of the Garlic & Chilli Prawns (75k++), which go down a treat and are ideal for sharing.
We wash everything down with a refreshing Ginger Twist (90k++), and a glass of Jamie’s famous Homemade Italian Lemonade (60k++) – a perfect balance of sweet and bitter that really hits the spot on a hot afternoon. To finish up for dessert, I crack open a Molten Chocolate Praline Pudding (95++), which is sweet and gooey and sinful in all the right ways, while my buddy picks the Creamy Panna Cotta (75k++), and is similarly blown away with the decadence of it all.
A class act from start to finish – as you’d expect from Mr. Oliver, Jamie’s Italian is a must if you’re after real Italian in Bali.
