Occupying a vast stretch of one of the best beaches in Nusa Dua, Agendaz Beach Club is the ideal spot to while away a day over on Bali’s east coast.
Part of The Bay complex that occupies most of the space between Nusa Dua’s two ‘islands’, Agendaz ticks all the boxes, with a large central swimming pool surrounded by shiny white loungers, plenty of breezy gazebos to lounge in as well as a number of casual dining areas throughout. And then there’s that view. Looking directly out onto a pristine lagoon that is flat calm and perfect for swimming, Agendaz has a wonderfully tranquil vibe by day. As night falls though, be prepared for the energy to ramp up, as the massive sound system and even more massive stage are primed for a host of local and international DJs to get the party started.
Open for lunch, dinner and beyond, Agendaz’s specialist restaurant is called Siam Kitchen, and serves up an authentic selection of Thai favourites like traditional red and green curries, fragrant stir-fried beef, chicken or pork, and hearty seafood dishes. Meanwhile, The Purple Bar handles all the drink requirements, from cold-as-can-be beers and soft drinks, to hot beverages and cocktails. For our pre-lunch warm up, the Mrs & I perch on one of the bar stools overlooking the scene, and order up a frozen mojito (100k++), and a fruity Kiss-On-The-Lips (100k++). Both go down an absolute treat, and we’re soon into a second round before moving over to one of the tables to get stuck into the menu.
Thai starters don’t get more crowd-pleasing than the Poh Pie Pak (65k++), better known as the classic deep-fried spring rolls. Crispy, golden and dripping with tangy sweet chili sauce I can’t think of a better opener for our lunch. First up I go for a steaming bowl of the Tom Yum Goong (85k++) – the famous spicy Thai prawn soup. The piquant, chili-infused coconut broth contains three huge juicy prawns that just melt in the mouth, and I greedily slurp up every last drop. The Mrs goes for the BBQ Pork Spare Ribs (197++), plate literally groaning under the weight of four massive, meaty ribs slathered in tangy sauce and a huge side helping of Asian greens.
Suitably stuffed we skip dessert and roll ourselves down to the pool area for a couple more drinkies and some solid lounger time. Oh yes, if it’s a spot of good ol’ beach clubbery you’re after, you won’t go far wrong at Agendaz. Dan Ashcroft
