Today’s Specials: Meja Kitchen & Bar | Ayam Kalio

Meja Kitchen & Bar has been focusing on Indonesian cuisine over the past few years, and recently, they’ve just got their menu revamped, with more items making it to the list. One of the dishes hails from West Sumatera, and it’s this tasty Ayam Kalio (75k) which consists of a quarter chicken, covered in savory yellow gravy. Marinated for hours with special ingredients, the chicken has a nice fall-off-the bone texture, with the creamy coconut gravy richening the flavor with its spicy element. This chicken is served with steamed rice, and to make it more authentic, it also comes with sautéed cassava leaves which are a must in Padang cuisine. Not to forget the crispy purple yam crackers that just make a nice complement to the dish. So, for those looking for Indonesian flavor with a bit of modern touch, this dish is worth a try.
