Nyepi has come and gone and we welcome the new Balinese year. I hope you all had a great time chasing ogoh-ogoh (as you see above, a bit wet in Kerobokan), relaxing, meditating or partying, whatever rocked your boat. Nyepi normally signals the start of the dry season, but since we had such a lame wet season this year it seemed appropriate we should get the wettest and wildest days just before and after Nyepi this year. The cyclone is still down in the south but moving away slowly so the weather should be better very soon.
I’ve noticed the promotion of venues nowadays is getting more and more invasive. In-house photographers seem to hound people at some venues snapping away at every move. In some of the videos online it looks like guests are downright disgusted by it, shying away and wondering what the heck is going on, but does anyone care in the marketing team? It doesn’t look like it. I would suggest they back off and ask people if they want to be photographed or not before doing it. Or just repost images guests post on IG, like most venues do. In today’s day and age, it could be considered not only quite offensive, but also illegal.
Highlights this week? There are always plenty of parties and shows on around the traps…. Bali never ceases to amaze! Check out all the events, both main and regular, on thebeatbali.com/bali-events. Happy week to you all.
