Segara Village Hotel

Experience a tranquil, oceanfront stay in Sanur
Location
If you derive your joy from the morning sun—then Sanur is the right spot to be! You’ll be able to catch sunrise here every day, especially at Segara Village Hotel’s beachfront property. Once you’re done, take a stroll down along the streets of Sanur and make a stop at the many boutique shops, gelato kiosks, and chic cafes/restaurants. It’s only a 25-minutes ride from Ngurah Rai Airport, and around 45 minutes’ drive to the artistic village—and yogi haven—of Ubud.

Look
Although it’s a 60-year-old establishment, the expansive Segara Village keeps up with the times to create their now inimitable Balinese cosmopolitan architecture that fits in well with its tropical landscape. The rooms and exquisite bungalows in their five themed villages offering a serene escape wrapped around a lush Balinese garden and majestic coconut palm trees. Instead of feeling like you’re living in a hotel, you’ll feel like you’re staying at an authentic Balinese village.
Atmosphere
Similar to the overall vibe of Sanur, the Segara Village Hotel propose a tranquil stay created by the garden, fountains, and Balinese temple dotting the premises, and with traditional music playing in the background, or at other times, simply the calming ocean breeze. But, to balance it out, step into their Byrdhouse Beach Club for a bit of a fun buzz.

Features
From only 35 rooms in 1957, currently the Segara Village Hotel features 123 bungalows that are clustered into iconic small villages across five hectares of land. The rooms—Deluxe Room, Bungalow Room and Family Bungalow—are all brightly lit with big windows and spacious balconies or terraces either overlooking the garden, swimming pool or the ocean (Village 5). The Family Bungalow is particularly noteworthy because it’s a two-story bungalow with the extra room being for your broods. Meanwhile, if you’re looking for more privacy, try The Segara @ Village 2 which has a separate courtyard with its own pool. Other than that, simply lounge around at the beach or the glorious infinity pool. For a gastronomical experience, head down to the Byrdhouse Beach Club where five dining spots await: Le Pirate Kitchen (for Indonesian cuisine with a fine dining twist), Minami Japanese Kitchen & Teppanyaki, Amuse Gueule Patisserie (for delicious coffee and wood-fired pizzas), Byrd Cocktail Lounge & Bar, and, our favorite, the Jacuzzi Bar to warm the body while sipping top-notch cocktails.
