Asian Spice

Heaven on a plate was found at Asian Spice where my partner and I stopped by for lunch, not only to escape from the sun that day but to taste the chef’s favorite Satay Nusantara I’ve heard so much about. This fine establishment situated at Rama Residence on Jalan Padma is spacious and stunningly decorated with some amazing wood carvings, paintings and other beautiful Indonesian furnishings.

Seated at the front area, facing the ever busy Padma street – we started off with some healthy beverages. I opted for Paprika, which is a sweet combination of bell pepper, orange and rambutan served in a real bell pepper cup, my partner got himself Pitaya – a mix of red dragon, cucumber, celery and parsley which was also served in a red dragon fruit cup. Both are Rp 49K, refreshingly sweet and of course, healthy!

While waiting for our main meal, we shared the Thai Salmon and Mango salad Rp 75K, which was excellent and appetizing. Perfectly cooked salmon with a refreshingly sweet, sour and spicy mango salad – so yum!

You know your Satay Nusantara is coming when the whole restaurant team is escorting the dish with a festive traditional Balinese kecak dance to your table. They surrounded our table with this fun performance as the Satay Nusantara was being served so beautifully before us. What a pleasure to dine with such a fascinating presentation! The whole set consists of a mix of various satay such as satay banjar, satay Balinese, satay lilit ikan, satay udang, satay cumi and satay kambing rawit – all your fish, prawn, squid, lamb needs covered. The set also came with tasty oxtail soup, sauteed long beans, red & white steamed rice, a variety of sambal, prawn crackers and dessert with two roasted banana, gelato and fresh fruit platter. It was a lot of food for the two of us, but we ate the whole plate clean! Each satay was beautifully cooked and delicious to the max! Satay Nusantara Rp. 475K, was truly one spectacular dish that made it an all round fabulous lunch!

Asian Spice has a great selection of flavoursome Indonesian, Japanese, Indian, Thai, Chinese and Vietnamese classics as well as western cuisine. A great selection of beverages are also available, such as milkshakes, juices and a variety of cocktails – don’t miss their Buy 2 get 1 free on selected cocktails. Service was very attentive and quick. With a warm hospitality along with attractive surroundings, this is an absolutely amazing addition to the Padma culinary scene.
