Date For 2 : Da Maria.

Italian inspired restaurant Da Maria is an Osteria style dining outlet with a modern Australian twist that rocks within every category it serves. If you know good Italian, you know pizza & pasta are number one, and Da Maria servesa both, but that’s just the tip of the ice berg. Highlighting the diversity in Italian culture yet keeping the tropical Bali feel is something the Da Maria crew have executed perfectly. Whether you’re visiting for the fantastic food, cocktails, wine, fashion and art, Da Maria offers a fresh space catering to just about every demographic.

I have personally only been to Da Maria for their Sunday disco madness, otherwise known as the 528Hz parties, where almost all of Bali’s party people gather to end the weekend with a bang! Other than that, I have Go-Jek’d their delicious Pizzas and tasted a few entrees, which were very enjoyable. So, I was pretty excited to visit with my date and try some other items.

We fired up with the House Aperitivo (100k) to get our senses into action. A smooth and delicate taste lingered in the palate as a round of entrées and Foccaciatina (50k) arrived. We paired the Prosciutto (210k) with the refreshing Rhubarb G+T (120k), then moved onto the Snapper Carapacio (140k) and cleaned up the plates with the juicy home-made bread.

As we were appreciating the fact that they didn’t have the usual Christmas tree up and had made a collage of different old posters to mimic the shape of a Christmas tree, the main courses started streaming out. We we’re feeling artsy and paired up the two mains with suitable cocktails, aesthetically and tastefully pleasing. The Ravioli Ricotta (140k) was paired with drink No.147 (130k) – highly recommended if you’re into tasty passionfruit beverages. Not to mention the Rocket Salad (75K) and Crispy Skinned Fish of the Day (210k) paired with the Pony No.2 (100k). A beautifully constructed dish with an equally hard-hitting drink!

Sadly, it was time to end our feast but not before a taste of the sweet end of the menu. The Vanilla Panna Cotta (80k) with pineapple granita and meringue was divino! And just in case we weren’t feeling the last few rounds of drinks the Sgropino (130K) with the charred marshmallow on top and Al Caffe (140k) tipped the scales and had us leaving with a smile. An all-round unified concoction of cocktails and dishes kept us feeling mighty fine throughout the entire Da Maria experience. No wonder they won the best restaurant in last year’s Beat Awards!
