Whose Canvas: Radwin

He was an engineering grad, but he is better known as a photographer. Finding his passion in photography, Radwin took the opportunity to create things with what he was into, and it did not stop there. His photography show us what he sees through a viewfinder and his digital imaging takes it beyond what is captured by the camera.
Why photography?
Photography is very interesting for me because, just like other forms of art, we can devote our ideas into a medium. I am not a person who can draw, so photographs are my medium.
What inspires you, in general?
Nature, women, and art in general.
What do you want to say with your photographs, and how do you actually get your photographs to do that?
There is no specific thing to convey through my works. Basically, I just want to invite people who see my works to find their own interpretations. I always deconstruct the photographs I take, and I add other elements. This can lead to different perceptions by the audience.
In your current exhibition, we can see that you have naked women in your works. Besides these women, is there anything else that could be the characteristic in your works?
I always add other elements in my photos through the digital imaging process. Thus, the digital imaging itself can possibly be my very own characteristic.
What do you feel is the most challenging thing about photography?
In Indonesia, photography as a form of art is probably still less appreciated, so that the number of spaces to show it isn’t really well-developed. That’s probably the toughest challenge that I’ve experienced so far. To be able to exhibit, I needed nearly two years to prepare everything.
